One of the easiest and best ways to get new traffic to your blog, is to write a guest post for another blog.
I recently had one over at ProBlogger, and it was nice to see some new visitors and new traffic to my site.
I got a little bump in visitors, my RSS count went up a little, and I got some more comments. A few weeks down the road and it’s still the same.
Writing a guest post for a blog in your Niche is a really great way to find people who are interested in your topic, but haven’t found your blog yet.
But there is a little secret with guest posts, and it’s something that’s hard to do, but when you do it, the rewards are great.
When you do a guest post, make sure you’re posting your best work. When you write a post, and you realize that it’s really good, give it away. Writing mediocor guest posts are a waste of time. You want someone to read the guest post on the other blog, and think to themselves ‘Wow, this guy really knows his stuff’ and be more likely to click through to your blog.
Of course once they get to your blog make sure that you have everything in order, that it works, your hosting account is paid etc. The last thing you want is the guest post to go up, and a flow of visitors to a blog that looks shoddy, has rubbish content or just isn’t there.
So give away your best stuff, and make sure you’re ready when you do.
