twammer: A definition

A twammer is a twitter spammer.

I just got followed by someone on twitter. I had a look at their profile and they follow 50,000 of which about 30,000 follow them back.

This is fine, except I then had a look at their tweets. They had about 10 tweets a day. It would go something like this:

- Morning all

- check this link: link.com

-check this link: link2.com

-check this link: link3.com

- nite all

There is no interaction with anyone else, just a hello tweet, a bunch of links, and a bye tweet.

I suppose like just about any medium you’ll find people who use it purely for their own gain. The advantage with twitter is that I can have a look at the profile before I choose to receive his updates. With email, I don’t have that option.

Yep, damn irritating coz, initially, I thought these people checked out my tweets and were genuinely interested in following me only to find out that they just want people to click their links.

But, ja, easy enough to un-follow the irritating few that tweet too much crap :P
