Oh How Linux has Come a Long Way

I’ll never forget my first encounter with Linux. Was Red Hat 6, almost 10 years ago. Trying to install software was a nightmare. You had to download files, make, install, skin cats and dance around the fire at midnight. Then, if you’re lucky everything works the first time.

I’m sitting here installing Ubuntu on this new Acer Aspire One, and apt-get install is just such a breeze. Makes me thankful to the open source community for all their hard work in making great software. Kudos.
